My Recent Work
Me, Myself & I
Hey! My name is Joe Cotton (AKA Magicstuff) and I design websites (in case you hadn't already guessed). I am a student from the south-east of the UK and I enjoy wearing a suit, using my Windows PC and playing American pool (sometimes all at the same time).
I've been coding raw XHTML and CSS since early 2007 when I was introduced to the web design world by a friend. Since then I've had a bug for it - not being able to stop using my computer, working late into the night on design projects amongst other things.
I'm a stickler for detail with an eye for design. I'm a self-confessed perfectionist. I try to keep my designs clean and beautiful while still being very user friendly.
Aside from XHTML and CSS I also know PHP 5, MySQL, bash/shell and (limited) C# & VB.net, and I am currently in the process of learning Javascript and Ajax so that I can enhance my design work with more interactivity.
Finally, I'm the co-founder and Managing Director/CEO of JCKD (UK) ltd, a registered company providing US Virtual Servers to the UK and global market.
Why Web Design?
This is a question I was pondering myself recently, the answer to which occured to me as I was looking at Firerift CMS. Its simple - I would make software, but there are 2 reasons why I don't.
1) I own a PC and designing software for windows is not at all flexible or creative.
2) I would make software for the Mac as the design process is much more flexible but I don't own a Mac so I cannot.
This is why I design for the web - I can do whatever I want with the design.
